Junior Optoelectronic Engineer
The company seeks an experienced engineer to take part in design, development, manufacturing and testing optoelectronic and optomechanical sensing systems involving optical fibers. The Junior Optoelectronic Engineer will learn several processes and use various types of tools in the layout, fabrication, assembly and testing of optoelectronic devices associated with patented optomechanical sensing technology.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent years of related experience in the fields of fiber optics/mechanical engineering/electrical engineering
- Familiar with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, or function generators
- Fluent with MS Word, Excel, knowledge of CAD software is a plus
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
Job duties
- Following instructions as outlined in manufacturing procedure, assembles and tests fiber optic sensors and associated electro-optical devices which includes, but is not limited to: fiber alignment, basic soldering, assembling fiber optic cables, fastening optical, electrical, and mechanical parts utilizing various adhesives, and packaging finished goods
- Performs detailed tasks using fine motor skills and magnification
- Participates in developing manufacturing processes and optimizing existing characterization procedures Follows and interprets mechanical drawings, modifies the existing drawings if necessary
- Performs product testing
- Maintains a safe work environment by following all safety guidelines
- Follows quality guidelines
- Maintains laboratory equipment and keeps inventory
