Technical Engineer

Lenterra seeks an engineer to support R&D and industrial projects involving opto-mechanical sensing devices. In this hands-on position, the successful applicant will play an important role in supporting engineering efforts to develop and test innovative sensing systems and in working on federally-funded projects. Engineer will participate in device assembly, testing, installation, training, troubleshooting, and repair. The job requires creativity and multiple skills.

Job duties:
  • Conducts tests to characterize products and prototypes
  • Utilizes established techniques to compile and analyze data
  • Prepares technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations
  • Develops and maintains material and process specifications and works with key suppliers
  • Develops new experimental and manufacturing processes, establishes new characterization methods, and optimizes existing laboratory and characterization techniques
  • Develops, builds, modifies, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of laboratory equipment, and interfaces this equipment for data acquisition
Qualifications:

✓ Master’s degree in Science or Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
✓ Two years industrial R&D experience in the fields of physics/fiber op-tics/mechanical engineering/electrical engineering
✓ Background in Optics and Fluid Mechanics strongly desired
✓ Must be familiar with fiber optic technology
✓ Must be familiar with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, or function generators
✓ Fluent with standard computer software, knowledge of LabVIEW and Au-to CAD
✓ Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
